Go read something!
Time to talk about another 'book not my own!' Prince Caspian, by C. S. Lewis, one of the books composing the Chronicles of Narnia, is our book of the week (month, year, lunar cycle?). This is a great book for kids and adults, the latter tend to enjoy it immensely and not tell any one, thinking it is somehow embarrassing to read a 'kids' book, but then I still enjoy Dr. Seuss. If you've seen the newer movie, the book is much better. If you've read the book, skip the movie. The other two are well done, but this theatrical rendition is not faithful to the source material.

More on books not my own
Is it absurd to use your authorial blog to promote books not your own? They say a rising tide lifts all ships, but I am not sure who 'they' are or what such nautical phraseology has to do with literary genius, but I read a little collection of fairy tales by Oscar Wilde the other day and thought others might like to enjoy it as well. Find it here. It is a quick and heart warming read.

Another completely pointless entry in the cyberspace library
As an aspiring author, I should be using my vast social media influence to urge consumption of my reading material and nothing but MY reading material, after all MY reading material must be the best since I wrote it, right? At least according to all those self-esteem people who keep telling everyone that they are the best, which makes absolutely no sense, especially in the literary world where I may think a certain work is amazing and you may think it is horrible and vice versa. I have no use for modern literature as some must have no use for Jane Austen. That is the fun of literature, everyone can decide what they like and what they don't (unless you are trapped in a ninth grade english class and then you must read what the teacher likes). I am currently slogging through Middlemarch, and I am as yet undecided if it is worth the effort or not, but let us hope that it is for it is a long book! Read my books if you like them, read something else if you do not and even if you do, there are many good books out there that should be read, even if they were not written by me!

On ugly children?
I am not sure why we write books any more in this modern age as there is quite a collection already in existence that have faithfully survived the centuries and are still worth the reading. I suppose that is the one advantage of the e-book: it shall never collect dust, though many are likely doomed to obscurity. But perhaps that is why we still write books, obscurity bound or no, every book is beloved by its writer as a child its mother, it is a thing conceived in the soul and birthed by the pen (or word processor) and the author is never content until it is fully formed and can love it as only a mother could, the world's opinion be what it will. I only wish that every author were also a master of grammar and spelling, for there are many ugly children of the literary type wandering around the cybersphere, yet their writers love them still, warts and all.
