It's political season, deer season, and...

Perhaps the younger generation will not delight in my reference to the classic Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoon wherein they dispute with Elmer Fudd whether it is Wabbit Season or Duck Season and whether one should shoot him now or wait til he gets home, but sadly it is a happier tale than recent American political debacles, it should be a debate but where there is no reason the people perisheth and we shan't call it anything of the sort.  But moving on to happier climes, besides for politics of one sort or another and field sports of various kinds, Autumn is also the season of cold days and shortening nights, perfect conditions for literary delights, so turn off the Netflix and pick up a great book, at least therein we can find a little sense, no matter what happens in the wider world!

Nor the race to the swift

'Shadows of the Past' is nearing completion, I continue editing and revising my early books, it is coming, but slowly, I'm afraid I'd rather write new stuff than rewrite the old and life itself tends to limit how much time I can devote to either.

Book I and II are out, again.

I finally got the first two books of 'Serpent' completely revised, I'll attack the boxed set when I'm completely finished, and update the 'In Shadow' copy when I release the next book in that series.  The story is the same, just a revamp in structure and language to make it flow a bit better.

Working on it!

I know your summer is absolutely ruined since I have yet to finish revisions on even the first book of 'Serpent and the Unicorn,' but I'm working on it!  It is almost as much work, and far less fun, than writing a novel story, no wonder I never went into editing!  But don't worry, I'm not changing the story, merely the word structure to make it a bit less obvious and cumbersome, but it will take awhile, so go photograph a comet or something!

More updates and a project of special magnificence

There is a partial chapter missing in the 'Other Brother' boxed set and I'll try and get that straightened out one of these years, but I'm also undertaking something I've been loath to begin: a complete revision of my early books, particularly 'The Serpent and the Unicorn.'  Fear not, the story will not change, but I have learned a lot in the past decade, and while it is a decent book, it could be so much better.  The writing is choppy, the characters two dimensional, and sadly the obvious is stated far too often.  Not bad for a beginner, but painful to read some years and a lot of writing later.  It may take a while, but I'll release them as I get them done.  I've struggled with this for a long time, knowing they needed revision but not wanting to 'destroy' my early works, as I was a whole other person when I wrote them and it seems akin to doing radical plastic surgery on your kid because their nose isn't quite the way you want it, but editing isn't quite so dramatic as surgery, and if the works will come out the stronger, why not?  We'll know soon enough!
