It was the best of posts, it was the worst of posts...
I can't help but pass on a little article I found about one of my favorite books, this is supposed to be a blog about my books, but who cares about them when such people as Dickens leave their all too wonderful books lying around where anyone might read them? Go read Dickens, forget lesser literature!

Looking for the great modern epic, the novel of the century?
Good luck on the search, but it certainly is not to be found in such an obscure place as this. Here be only fairy tales and other such nonsense. I leave the more 'sensible' writing to the protégés of modern lit.

Other than covers
I have finally read Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. This is exciting because it is only the second Jane Austen novel I have managed to finish. I never thought to pick it up because I did not like the version of the movie I had seen, but I caught a different version of the film and rather liked it so decided to endure the book which is worth the read. Maybe I should revisit Emma; I gave up in boredom after about a hundred pages. Perhaps one should not judge a book by a film adaptation. Fear not, that will likely never be a problem with my writing!

Long awaited site updates
Ok, maybe not so long awaited for the vast majority (and hopefully all) of humanity. Just added a brief 'about the author' thingy (yes that is the appropriate scientific descriptor) and put in more purchase links for The Greylands. Also put a note behind the free books so you know where to get them.

Random book plug
Need a nice little story for the dog days of summer? Why not try A Dash for the Throne by Arthur W. Marchmont over at project Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/40907 A little adventure, some romance, and a bit of history and mistaken identity make for an amusing read.

On puce
Puce is one of those words that mystifies the masses yet few of us truly know what color this color really is. I always imagined it as a hideous greenish purplish grey but it is actually a rather nice reddish brown, now you know too! As to what this has to do with my literary career, on that I have no idea.

Another good excuse
I hate August, it is one of those interminable months like November or March when you are waiting for the last season to get over with and the next to start and the weather really isn't all that great. The glory of summer has faded yet the splendor of fall has not yet come. It is hot, dry, dusty, and those wretched cicadas sound like an audible migraine. Might as well read a book!
